Drew leaves behind his loving sassy wife Devon and their 2 beautifully smart daughters, Lila (12 years) and Hailey (7 years old).
Drew was charismatic, charming, loving, had a heart of gold, a true friend, with a hilarious sense of humor. He had the canning ability to befriend any soul with his infectious personality, the true life of the party who would light up any room he entered. And let’s not forget about those hugs…it has been stated by many that he gave the best hugs in the history of hugs.
He loved and cared deeply for everyone around him, whether it was his family, friends, or co-workers, he never held back in showing his feelings for us all. He was the ultimate girl dad, fiercely protective of them, making sure they were where they were supposed to be, driving them to their activities, cheering them on at games, or simply enjoying one on one dinners with them after practice. He drove hours out of state just to pick up a special edition Simpson’s Lego set for his Lila. He would go out of his way just to put a smile on your face. If you had the honor of knowing him, you know that he will be incredibly and deeply missed. This loss is deeply personal, which makes us realize that there is no one that can ever make us feel the way he did.
Drew and Devon were young loves who spent a whopping 22 years together. He was literally her everything, her rock, her comfort, her support, her person. Absolutely nothing can prepare you for losing your world. The family is understandably shocked by this loss and unfortunately not prepared for all that is happening at this time. Losing a loved one is always difficult, but coping with a sudden loss adds a different element to the grieving process. It doesn’t follow a pattern and there’s often a lack of closure.
This loss now creates a huge financial burden as Drew took pride in being the sole provider for his family. Devon now faces the task of being the sole caregiver for their 2 girls after many years of being a stay at home mother. The Taft family is in need of any and all support we can give during this time of grieving and carving out a new way of life without Drew. Please keep this family in your prayers, and we thank you for any help you may give. Even if you are not in a position to help out, please share this GoFundMe page with your friends and family. It is in these times of loss and sadness when people come together to help one another make it through, to support the people we care for.
Any support you may be able to provide would be greatly appreciated. Please keep Devon, Lila, and Hailey in your thoughts and prayers. No arrangements have been made yet but below is the link to a go fund me page set up to help his family. You can also send funds directly to Devon via Venmo @devon-taft-1.
