Celebrate the rich history and achievements of Black Americans in the roofing industry through this unique event

In this episode of Roofing Road Trips®, host Megan Ellsworth sits down with Donavan Morgan, the founder of The Roof Museum, to talk about the 3rd Annual Black History Month Summit. An event that honors the history, contributions and achievements of Black Americans in the roofing industry. This event brings together roofing contractors, entrepreneurs and business professionals to not only celebrate Black history but also gain valuable insights into growing their businesses.

Donavan’s journey into the roofing industry and his creation of the roof museum stemmed from a deep passion for recognizing excellence in the field. Reflecting on his motivation, Donavan explains, “I wanted to find out who the best of the best was in roofing. That’s how The Roof Museum came to be.” He wanted to be the one to induct them into the Hall of Fame, since one didn’t exist at the time. He added, “Let’s create the roof museum and I can start inducting people who have provided excellence to our industry.” The museum, in partnership with IKO, offers education sessions that cover a wide range of topics related to roofing, from technical skills to business strategies and serves as a space where roofing professionals can connect with one another.

At the summit, attendees can expect a day packed with insightful sessions and networking opportunities. Donavan highlights some of the key topics for the 2025 summit: “We’ll be discussing innovation, the role of AI in the roofing industry. We also have financial literacy sessions. There will also be a session on business financing.”

The 3rd Annual Black History Month Summit at the roof museum is more than just an event; it’s a chance to be part of something bigger. It’s about celebrating Black history, learning from industry leaders and empowering each other to push the boundaries of what’s possible in roofing. The summit will take place on February 15, 2025, from 10:00 a.m.to 2:00 p.m., at the roof museum in Marietta, Georgia. After the educational sessions, attendees are invited to join a networking mixer to continue the conversations and build meaningful relationships within the roofing community.
