Patch silicone coatings like a pro!

Karnak Patch silicone coatings like a pro

Meet the 671 KARNA-Seal, the durable and watertight solution to your silicone repair struggles!

Silicone roofs can be a challenge to repair, as many common products used to seal roofs do not adhere to silicone coatings. But you can apply additional silicone sealant to patch a leak. If the area is prepared correctly, this will make the process easy and effective. One great option for jobs like this is KARNAK’s 671 KARNA-Seal silicone roof sealant!

This product is not only great for sealing on silicone roofs, but can be applied on other materials such as BUR, modified bitumen, metal, TPO, PVC and EPDM! It will also stick to other backup materials often found on a roof, such as wood and concrete. This makes it a great option if you are looking for a well-rounded and versatile sealant.

The actual process of using KARNA-Seal to make a repair is quite simple. In order to prepare, you will only need to gather four items:

  1. A cleaning solution such as the KARNAK 799 Wash-N-Prep or denatured alcohol
  2. A rag to apply said solution
  3. A 4-in chip brush or margin trowel for working with the KARNA-Seal
  4. A 4-in or 6-in width  polyester fabric reinforcement to place between applications of Karna-Seal over the repair area (such as the KARNAK 5540 Resat-Mat

In a video for KARNAK’s YouTube channel, Chris Huettig, their technical director, showcased this product. He explained how the actual application process works, “Once the lid and plastic have been removed, 671 KARNA-Seal is ready to go to seal your roof leak. Before I make the repair, I'm going to make sure I clean the area by applying our 799 Wash-N-Prep roof cleaner.” From there, he applied the sealant, layered in a piece of the polyester reinforcement and added more sealant on top. This combination creates a strong and watertight repair that will keep your building and its occupants safe and dry.
