The Long-lasting Effects of Silicone Roof Coatings

APOC Long Lasting Silicone Roof Coatings
October 12, 2023 at 6:00 a.m.

By Dani Sheehan.

Learn about the benefits of choosing a silicone roof system for your next commercial roof restoration project.

At an industrial warehouse in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, APOC products provided the contractor with the ideal solution for a roof restoration rather than a full roof replacement. The roof was initially in fair condition, but there were several problems that needed to be addressed to protect the roof from the harsh climate of Southern Florida. Subjected to both intense sun and heat, as well as frequent heavy rains, areas of the roof had been subjected to leaks and granule loss over time.

Performing a full assessment of the roof and possible solutions, the contractor determined that a silicone roof system would be most appropriate for addressing the problem of water ponding while also protecting it from harmful sun exposure. This also provided the building owner with a more cost-effective option than a full roof replacement.

This was the contractor’s first project utilizing APOC Silicone and he had nothing but positive things to say about the experience. Not only did the APOC team work with the roofing company throughout the process, but they were able to actively repair open seams and flashing. Applying the coating was incredibly easy compared to other competitive product options, saving him time and money to complete the restoration.

Thanks to the high performance of the products, the building now has a long-lasting roof membrane that will need little to no maintenance for years to come. The building owner will not need to worry about damage from ultraviolet radiation, extreme temperatures or the accumulation of water after heavy rain. In addition, the products used are solvent-free, aiding in the building’s sustainability and combatting climate change.

Materials for this project included APOC 583, an armor base silicone roof primer, APOC 585, an armor flex silicone root coating, APOC 515, a liquid flash for flashing and details, as well as APOC 483 a polyester fabric.

Learn more about the success of this project and an in-depth description of each of the products used in this case study to see why silicone roof systems are the clear solution for industrial roof restorations.
