Sika Oxygen Reactor

By Sika.

Waste water treatment plant reactor room’s roof can now stay dry with the help of Sikalastic® products.

Due to the nature of its treatment process, the Patapsco Waste Water Treatment Plant in Baltimore, Maryland has to be able to withstand excess moisture and extreme temperatures. When its oxygen reactor room began to show signs of aging, a long-lasting solution was needed to keep the room dry under any conditions.

Project solution

Aside from the Sikalastic-641 Lo-VOC RoofPro system with Sika Reemat fiberglass which can accommodate any geometry of roof penetration one may encounter, it was chosen because the Moisture-Triggered Chemistry (MTC). MTC incorporates a unique formula that allows the material to use atmospheric moisture to trigger the curing process. This means the waterproofing membranes are capable of curing in a wide range of conditions including extreme temperature ranges and humidity that can occur since the building is located right on the edge of the Patapsco River and Baltimore is notorious for unexpected downpours in the summer season.

MTC technology is rain resistance in as fast as 10 minutes!
