In a recent episode of Stories from the Roof, Megan Ellsworth interviews Jacob Aguirre, the director of operations for Beldon Roofing to understand his path to roofing and discover the intricacies of his work. Working at Beldon has been Jacob’s only experience with the roofing industry. After finishing school, he joined the military, and after serving, he worked an assortment of construction jobs. His job at Beldon was the one that stuck.
Once he joined Beldon, Jacob recalls, “I didn’t see myself going any other direction.”. He started out delivering materials such as shingles and other commercial products to the crews in the field. Doing this helped familiarize him with the roofing industry. “As I saw more of how the industry worked, I started to learn the roofing processes and work my way through the company, and worked through project management to the senior project management, and a few years ago took the director position,” Jacob shares.
As the director of operations for Beldon production sites, he knows the ins and outs of how each Beldon project comes together. “I oversee all the commercial projects, from single-ply built up coating to EPDM… any roofing aspect that you see,” Jacob explains.
Jacob attributes his success at Beldon and in the industry to his “never say no” attitude. “For our business and for my career, I've always had the mindset I never say no,” Jacob shares. “If you say no, you turn your customer down, you let somebody down. So being in this position, in this project and this company, I don't see an option to say no.”
