Are you interested in a professional career in Construction Management? If a college degree seems out of reach while you pursue real-world work experience, or you don’t want the burden of having to pay back student loans, please consider coming to work with Weatherproofing Technologies, Inc. (WTI) and applying for our one-of-a-kind work/school RISE Program. Once you are accepted into the RISE program, 100% of your online tuition is paid by WTI while you gain invaluable work experience with us!
My name is Amie Grant, and I am the Education and Community Outreach Coordinator at WTI. I am so excited to tell you about our company and our new initiative, RISE - Roofing Individuals Succeed through Education.
RISE was created by WTI in collaboration with The University of Akron, whose main campus is located in Akron, Ohio, to provide various educational opportunities from GEDs, apprenticeships, and degrees. The University of Akron has 22,000 students and more than 300 Associate, Bachelor’s, Master’s, Doctorate, and Law degree programs. They are experts in offering career-focused and experiential learning that helps students get ahead in the job market. These programs do not require employees to pay back any tuition or fees or commit to long-term employment.
WTI is headquartered in Beachwood, Ohio. We are a global roofing and construction services company that provides roofing and building envelope solutions to building owners in the education, healthcare, manufacturing, government, and commercial industries. We provide turnkey services that include general contracting, roof management programs, comprehensive diagnostics, maintenance programs, repairs, and restorations. WTI is an affiliate of Tremco Roofing and Building Maintenance, a leading manufacturer of quality roofing systems across North America.
In addition to the great men and women who work at our headquarters and plants, we have around 700 employees dispatched across the United States. So, no matter where you are located, we have opportunities nearby for you to start your career with WTI. Our hourly rate in the field starts at no less than $15/hr. and can be as high as $70/hr., depending on your experience, market, and type of work.
WTI is an industry leader in technology, innovation, and sustainability. We are continually challenging ourselves to develop new and exciting ways to work smarter and serve our customers better.
With long-term careers in mind, positions with WTI include, but are not limited to, Repair/Coatings Crews, Field Foremen, Field Supervisors, Estimators, Specification Writers, Construction Associates, Project Managers, Construction Managers, Program Managers, and Regional Business Managers.
My WTI story started in 2017 when I was hired as a Cost Engineer. I have recently transitioned into my new role as Education and Community Outreach Coordinator and couldn’t be more excited! Since starting here, I have learned so much about the roofing industry, as well as just how family-oriented the company is. Employees here truly care about each other and root for each other’s successes. If you are motivated to work hard, WTI will give you the tools and opportunities needed to elevate you to reach your goals. We are ready and willing to invest in your future!
There are two degree options: The Associate of Science in Construction Management and the Bachelor of Organizational Supervision in Construction Management. All students begin as Associate Degree candidates. The Associate Degree is perfectly aligned with the first two years of the Bachelor’s Degree, so students who elect to continue their education can flow seamlessly into the Bachelor’s Degree option.
Everything is online – including placement testing and a new student orientation. You don’t need to travel any further than to your computer to pursue this degree! The classes are taught by the same high-quality faculty who teach on campus, so rest assured you are getting a first-class education. In addition to having the full support of WTI, students are assigned an Academic Advisor through the University of Akron. Our employees who have taken advantage of this program so far have enjoyed great success, with GPAs ranging from 3.1-4.0.
Employees are eligible to apply for the RISE Program after 90 days of employment. Enrollment can start in the Spring, Summer, or Fall semesters, so no need to wait until the following school year to get started!
Oh, and one more thing!
If you come to work for us, but don’t want to pursue a degree in Construction Management yourself, you can instead choose to have one of your dependents utilize this benefit in your place. That’s right, we will pay for your son, daughter, or other dependent’s degree in Construction Management. Our industry is growing at lightning speed, and we want to flood the pool with qualified candidates for the future!
