Roofing contractors seeking enhanced efficiency and flexibility have a new option with BITEC’s latest product launch. The company has expanded its Imperflex® self-adhered roofing system with the introduction of the Imperflex SA2, a two-square self-adhered base sheet. The new product, which was showcased at the 2025 International Roofing Expo (IRE) this February, is designed to improve installation efficiency while maintaining the high-quality performance associated with the Imperflex brand.
Contractors have long relied on BITEC’s Imperflex USA base sheet, a smooth-surfaced SBS modified bitumen base sheet, for its ease of application and durability. However, demand has been growing for a larger format that provides greater coverage per roll.
“The SBS-polymer modified Imperflex roofing system offers roofers the convenience of a self-adhered solution, but until now they’ve been limited to our Imperflex USA 1-1/2 square smooth-surfaced base sheet,” said Joel Shealey, president of BITEC. “The new SA2 version provides the same high level of installation efficiency, while offering contractors a convenient two-square alternative.”
The addition of a two-square base sheet means contractors can cover more surface area per roll, reducing the number of seams and speeding up the installation process. This can lead to lower labor costs and a more streamlined application, particularly in residential roofing where the Imperflex system is often used in place of shingles, tile or metal on steep slopes.
BITEC has reinforced its commitment to quality with this new release. “BITEC has never compromised on the original high-quality formulations used in our mod-bit systems,” said Shane Millwood, BITEC’s vice president of sales. “The new Imperflex SA2 base sheet is a welcome extension of the Imperflex product line.”
The expanded Imperflex system includes the Imperflex MSA, a mineral-surfaced SBS modified bitumen cap sheet that enhances UV protection. With factory-installed, colored ceramic-coated roof granules, the MSA cap sheet helps ensure long-term durability against the elements.
Increasing the base sheet size from 1-1/2 square to two squares provides several advantages beyond installation efficiency. Larger sheets mean fewer seams, which can improve waterproofing performance by reducing potential weak points. Additionally, contractors can complete jobs faster, which is especially valuable in time-sensitive projects where weather conditions can change rapidly.
With the introduction of the Imperflex SA2 base sheet, BITEC continues to innovate in the roofing industry, delivering practical solutions that meet the needs of contractors while upholding the durability and reliability expected of the brand.
