In Season 4, Episode 50 of Roofing Road Trips, Heidi speaks with Jackie Hart of Estimating Edge and Chad Davis of Duro-Last® about the partnership between their two companies. The Edge software has revolutionized the way Duro-Last does their construction estimates. Jackie and Chad tell Heidi the story of how this computer program changed everything for their business.
Estimating Edge has been a “takeoff and estimating solution” for 36 years. “We're headquartered in South Florida, Boynton Beach,” says Jackie. “I've been with the company for about six years but selling software and technologies to construction for about 25 years.” The company came to Duro-Last over three years ago and offered their software.
“When the Edge came into Duro-Last, we'd been doing quotes a very specific way for quite some time,” says Chad. “It entailed AutoCAD drawings and a great deal of individual work and calculations, which were both very time consuming.” The Edge has completely nullified their old process. Before, coming up with quotes was a tedious process done by hand. Human error had to be accounted for, as mistakes happened often. The lost time was costly. Now, their process allows for computer calculations, which are not as subject to error. As a result, the Edge has saved Duro-Last drastic amounts of time and money.
A customer-driven culture has been the key to both companies’ successes. With Duro-Last and Estimating Edge teaming up, both companies have been able to attend to customers’ needs more readily than ever. Chad explains, “[Our business is] very dedicated to core principles, with the goal of allowing our customer all ways always. It’s one of our internal slogans.” With their newfound partnership, both Duro-Last and Estimating Edge have been able to improve upon their already fantastic customer service.
