Meet Chris Bell, the latest StealthBond® Pelican Cup Winner

NOV - RCSBlog - SteathBond - Meet Chris Bell Pelican Winner
November 29, 2018 at 1:15 p.m.

By Karen L. Edwards, RCS Editor.

After learning about StealthBond®, an adhesive-based metal roofing installation system, Chris is excited to install his first StealthBond® roof.

After a little bit of phone tag (Chris is a busy guy), I was finally able to connect with Chris to learn more about him and his roofing business, Bells Roofing in Alpharetta, Georgia. If you’ve read my other contractor profiles, you know that I love to learn how the person that I am talking to got into the roofing industry. Chris is one of those that caught the roofing bug early on – he began roofing as a summer job while he was in high school.

“I started roofing when I was 16 years old in the summertime with a friend of mine,” explained Chris. “I was toting shingles for him each summer, then once I graduated high school, I decided it was what I wanted to do for a living.”

After gaining a few years of experience, Chris decided that he wanted to start his own business so at the age of 21, he started Bells Roofing. “It has worked out really well for me,” he said. “I’ve had some low spots, but it always picks up. I do a lot of word of mouth work and social media has really helped generate work.” Bells Roofing does mostly residential work, including a lot of metal and they also do some light commercial work.

When Chris discovered the StealthBond® system on RoofersCoffeeShop® he knew he found something new and innovative and couldn’t wait to learn more about it. He has been in touch with StealthBond and plans to install his first system in about two months.  He is especially excited to eliminate the need for screws. “With the screws exposed, you have to go back every 10 years or so and replace them because the rubber washers are dry rotted, and the screws have backed out,” he explained. “I am really looking forward to eliminating that issue.”

RoofersCoffeeShop has been a great resource for Chris in running and growing his business. “I like reading the articles and looking at what other contractors are doing out there and how they are running their businesses,” Chris said. “I pick up tips too. If there is a product that someone else has used that I haven’t, it’s good to read about their experience.”

When asked what he likes most about working in roofing, he said, “I like it because I can make someone’s home look better and no job is the same. I love being able to step back, look at the home and say wow we did that!”
