Mark Your Calendars to Attend FRSA's 98th Annual Convention & Expo

FRSA Annual Convention & Expo
March 21, 2020 at 10:00 a.m.

In just four short months, another FRSA Convention & Expo will be here before you know it!

Now is the perfect time to review the amazing educational and networking opportunities that will take place during the event and to make sure you have time set aside to join your industry peers in Kissimmee, Florida.

FRSA’s 98 th Annual Convention and the Florida Roofing & Sheet Metal Expo will return to the Gaylord Palms Resort and Convention Center, July 15-17, 2020. The event will start with a full day of educational seminars on Wednesday. FRSA’s Educational & Research Foundation will offer a full slate of Floridabased roofing-specific seminars. With the new Florida Building Code (FBC) 2020 set for implementation by year-end and the inclusion of ASCE 7-16 into the FBC, there will be many technical changes to the way roofing systems are installed. FRSA has 10 seminars which focus on these changes for 2020.

The Foundation has also planned many educational opportunities for Thursday and Friday, including Advanced Florida Building Code (2020) 7th Edition, Critical Contract Provisions, Licensing and MBE/WBE Requirements, Solar Roofing Codes and Best Practices, Safety and Housekeeping – The Perfect Combination, Hurricane Mitigation – Roof-to-Wall Connections, Wage and Hour: Potential Pitfalls, 2020 FBC Changes in Metal Roofing, Workers’ Comp Coverage, Best Practices for Preventing Cybersecurity, and FRSA-TRI Tile Manual 6th Edition.

FRSA’s carefully planned seminar schedule still leaves plenty of opportunities for great networking events. On Wednesday, bring your crew and treat them to one of our competitive sports tournaments. Enjoy golfing at Celebration Golf Club, fishing in Port Canaveral, and pistol or clay shooting at Tenoroc Shooting Range.

Join us at the Gaylord Palms Resort on Wednesday evening for FRSA’s Welcome Reception at Wreckers Sports Bar. This two-story sports bar features a 37-foot sports screen, over 50 HDTVs, and the coldest beer in town. Stop by for delicious food stations, an open bar, and the perfect opportunity to network with industry peers.

The Florida Roofing & Sheet Metal Expo, the largest regional roofing expo in the country, will be open on Thursday from 11 am to 5 pm and on Friday from 10 am to 3 pm. Join 4,000 roofing contractors, architects, building officials, and industry suppliers as they gather at the sold-out expo to learn about the latest products and services from more than 230 industry exhibitors. The Expo will offer plenty of networking opportunities, cash prizes, the FRSA 25 Square Challenge, a Silent Auction, and daily beer busts.

On Thursday night, make plans to attend the FRSA Officer Installation and S.T.A.R. Awards Dinner. The evening will highlight the best of the best in the roofing industry in four categories, with one project winning FRSA’s Shining Star and taking home bragging rights for the best roofing project of the year. Be sure to stick around for the S.T.A.R. Awards After-Party complete with a DJ, drinks, and plenty of dancing!

Applications for the 2020 S.T.A.R. Awards are currently being accepted and must be submitted by April 10, 2020. Visit www.floridaroof.com to apply today. Categories for submittal include Low Slope, Steep Slope, Community Service and Craftsmanship in Roofing. Project videos will be accepted and reviewed by the judges to offer a complete understanding of the project. Several high-resolution still photographs showing the project before, in-progress, and after are still required.

As you finalize your schedule for FRSA’s Convention and Expo, remember to include your family in the plans! The Ladies of FRSA will gather on Thursday for a Cake Decorating Workshop led by the Gaylord Palms Pastry Team. On Friday, the group will head off-site to the Board & Brush Studio to design and paint custom wall art displays. The Kids Program will offer a Creativity Night where they will make and cook their own dinners and desserts, a pool party, a Scavenger Hunt around the Gaylord Palms, and Extreme Video Game Night.
