The Ronald McDonald House is a national nonprofit which creates spaces for families to stay while their children receive medical care. As Dee Andrews, the executive director of the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Ohio explained, “The Ronald McDonald House is a home away from home for families who have a child in the hospital.” The House under Dee’s care is located just across the street from Nationwide Children’s Hospital and stays open all year to keep families close in times of need.
Recently, the nonprofit determined that it could help more families if they expanded their operations. Before they even started stressing about the costs and logistics of the undertaking, IB Roof Systems jumped on board. Bill Good, a Roofing Alliance senior consultant, elaborated, “IB Roof Systems kind of took the lead on the project. I was just telling Jason Stanley about the project and that we were going to be looking for help and he immediately said, ‘Well, I'm in.’ Didn't know anything about the scope of it, didn't know anything about how difficult it might be or any of the parameters. Didn't know the contractor, but he said, I'm in. And not only was he in, he was in enthusiastically.”
Jason’s enthusiasm was clear to all those involved. William Disbrow, one of IB Roof Systems’ territory account managers said, “Initially Jason reached out to me and said, right out of the gate, we want to donate a hundred percent of our IB PVC single-ply material for the project.” From there, IB Roof Systems began gathering more support from the roofing industry.
Ed Krusec, the director of sales OEM/private label for Hunter Panels recalled, “Jason asked if I'd be interested in contributing and working with them on this project.” Hunter Panels was thrilled to jump on board, Ryan Glaser, Hunter Panels regional sales manager Midwest explained, “I can't think of an organization that is more worthy than the Ronald McDonald House. When we get the opportunity to take part in a project like this, it is an absolute honor.”
Those working at the Ronald McDonald House almost couldn’t believe the kindness they were witnessing, Ryan Wilkins, their chief marketing officer, expressed their gratitude. He shared, “It was so exciting that a specific part of the industry would be willing to do something so generous and made us feel that the roofing industry had our back.”
Bill added that acts of kindness like these aren’t talked about enough, with Dee chiming in about how the expansion could not have happened without IB Roof Systems. Jason shared, “It's amazing. We've stepped up to this project. We were glad to do it. We happen to make one of the highest end products in the single-ply roofing industry and build net decades of quality leak-free roof.”
