Heidi J. Ellsworth just joined Jared Ribble for an episode of the Stories of an Extraordinary Industry podcast to talk about building a business based on authenticity. This podcast is produced by the National Roofing Contractors Association (NRCA) and highlights gamechangers in the industry, like Heidi. Heidi has grown up with the industry in her blood. She shared, “I grew up in the trades. My mom and dad had a general contracting company out of central Oregon. My mom did all the books and my dad did all the work out in the field.”
Today, she is a well-known name in the industry for her work as president of RoofersCoffeeShop® and the owner of HJE Consulting. Through her work with the Coffee Shops and beyond, Heidi works to support and build the industry. Jared described, “She is every single person's biggest cheerleader. And as a woman in a predominantly male industry, her heart for women who loved the trades pushed her to make sure she was lifting up their voices as well.”
Heidi’s very authentic care and compassion for others has improved many people in the industry’s lives, such as Jennifer Stone who remembers seeing Heidi at her first IRE over ten years ago now. She explained Heidi’s impact: " I would say Heidi has single-handedly improved our retention of women in roofing. If you have a problem, you go to Heidi. If you want to be inspired, you call Heidi. If you're frustrated, you call Heidi. She empowers this idea that people, and especially women, can create the life that they love.”
