NRLRC Legal Education

Register today and receive $100 discount through RoofersCoffeeShop® for NRLRC September Seminar in New York.

Legal issues are a fact of life in the roofing industry, and roofing contractors need to make the most of every resource available.Compliance with regulations, litigation, and product claims and disputes are all part of a roofing contractor’s daily business.

To fulfill that need, the National Roofing Legal Resource Center (NRLRC), in conjunction with the National Roofing Contractors Association (NRCA), develops and delivers unique legal products, services and education to enable roofing contractors to successfully manage and respond effectively to the legal issues affecting their business.  Today one of those key events is NRLRC’s Annual Legal Seminar, Roofing Issues: Decks to Dockets.

This year’s NRLRC seminar will take place in the Big Apple on September 18-21, at the New York Hilton Midtown. New York City provides the backdrop to an extraordinary three-day learning experience that offers roofing contractors 13+ hours of in-depth legal, contractual, technical and business information that can’t be found anywhere else. In addition, contractors will discover 5-10 new ideas that can implemented immediately upon their return to the office.

The NRLRC Board of Directors works year-round with General Counsel Stephen Phillips, Hendricks, Phillips, Salzman and Siegel, Atlanta, NRLRC’s Executive Director, Alison LaValley, in addition to NRLRC’s executive team of President Matthew Leonard, Architectural Sheet Metal Inc., Orlando; Vice President George Patterson, Bennett & Brosseau Roofing, Romeoville, Ill.; and Immediate Former President  John Embow, Grove Roofing Services Inc., Buffalo. Through this collaboration, NRLRC and NRCA have created a legal seminar that will guarantee immediate options for improving contractors’ risk.

“Contractors will have the opportunity to learn from some of the roofing industry’s brightest experts while interacting with their peers in a hands-on format,” stated Alison LaValley, NRLRC’s executive director. The seminar features legal experts Stephen Phillips, Phillip Siegel and Trent Cotney, as well as roofing industry experts Rene Dupuis, Reid Ribble, Mark Graham and Tom Shanahan. The seminar allows attendees to share ideas and best practices, find solutions to problems, and build a lasting professional support network and business relationships that will thrive after the seminar.

As they continue with their commitment to educating roofing contractors, NRLRC and NRCA have continually upgraded the annual seminar experience, and this year’s 40th Anniversary Seminar will be no exception. Attendee registration fees (NRCA Members - $995, Nonmembers - $1,595 and Spouse/Guest - $255) include three days of educational sessions, handout materials, an opening luncheon, two hot buffet breakfasts, breaks and receptions on both Wednesday and Thursday evenings. Spouses and guests also are welcomed and encouraged to attend, and a registration package is available for meal events and receptions.

“We encourage all roofing professionals to join us in September in New York,” stated Matthew Leonard, NRLRC president. “CEOs, owners, COOs, human resources professionals, safety directors, training directors, on-staff legal counsel, office managers and project managers will all benefit from the education provided, and additional registrants from each company save $100. You really can’t afford not to attend,” Leonard added.

“Innovative ideas don’t come from thinking the same old way,” added Stephen Phillips. “So, take a few days away from your office and experience a unique, informative, educational event in New York City.”
