The fourth annual NWiR Day won’t take place until August 8 in Las Vegas, but you won’t have to wait to start connecting and learning from women in the industry. In a letter from Renae Bales, Chair of National Women in Roofing (NWiR), she spotlights the new series from the Education Committee called “Tech Talks” and invites newer members to the Stand Up Meeting. She also reminds everyone to start thinking about who they would like to nominate for the World Award and Rising Star Award. Bales writes in her letter:
While it’s only April, I’m super excited about NWIR Day on August 8 in Las Vegas. As we do every year, we send out a request for submissions and I can’t tell you how exciting it is to see all of the submissions and great topics we have received (it’s like opening a present). So many sponsors and members with such great topics who want to share and help empower you.
Now is a great time to look at those around you and make nominations for the World Award and Rising Star Award that will be announced at NWIR Day. Also, take a look at the N.E.W.S (Network of Educating Women Scholarship) Conference Attendee Program as we will be selecting four recipients this year to join us.
In the meantime, our Education Committee has put together a new series called Tech Talks. The next one is “All About Asphalt Shingles” on April 21 to learn the basics of asphalt shingles. This will be followed by a hands-on demonstration to learn how to install these shingles on May 20. Be on the lookout for the next Tech Talk coming out soon.
If you are new to NWIR, please be sure to join the Stand Up Meeting for new members. These are held on the third Monday of each month at 5 p.m. ET. This is a great way to introduce yourself to others, put a face with a name and start making connections. Look at the events calendar for more information.
We have a lot of great things ahead of us and I encourage you to join us. I look forward to seeing you in person at NWIR Day!
