The National Frame Building Association (NFBA) is dedicated to providing their members and the public with quality educational resources and opportunities to learn more about their industry and the benefits of post-frame design. Through their Post-Frame Advantage Online University program, the NFBA provides a virtual online seminar once or twice a month for participants to learn about key post-frame designs. This virtual course is free to attend and is a perfect opportunity to learn the fundamentals of design whether you’re new to the trade or a seasoned professional looking for a refresher.
In this webinar class, titled, “Non-Diaphragm Post-Frame Structural Design Examples: Engineering Details,” led by Virginia Tech Professor Daniel Hindman, participants learned about the design process behind various structures in the textbook created by the NFBA, the Non-Diaphragm Post-Frame Design Guide. The instructor shares what is expected of engineers to know about these structures and how they are identified and created.
Participants learned about the key features and identifiers of lateral force resisting systems (LFRS) and how they are used in non-diaphragm post-frame building systems (PFBS), in addition to the engineering details to building such systems. According to the presenter, the textbooks are a great resource for those who are looking to freshen up their knowledge of non-diaphragm post-frame structures or for those looking to learn more about them for the first time, and the instructor provided an easy-to-follow presentation style that any participant is sure to understand.
