At the 2024 International Builders Show, Heidi J. Ellsworth from RoofersCoffeeShop® speaks with Jamie Cito, the senior director of residential product marketing at GAF. Jamie has been with GAF for 11 years and oversees a range of products from shingles to innovative recycling processes. He expresses enthusiasm about showcasing the company’s latest offerings.
Jamie shares informtion about the GAF Energy solar shingle, a product designed with roofing contractors in mind. "This is the first ever solar shingle that is nailable,” Jaime explains. “It's easy for the builder to add this on to their offering because the contractor they might hire won't have difficulties trying to figure out how to install it.”
He also discusses GAF's commitment to sustainability through their Roof Cycle initiative, aiming to recycle 300,000 tons of shingles annually. “The goal for GAF is to recycle 300,000 tons of shingles annually so that the facility will collect, grind up and separate the materials down to two components,” Jaime emphasizes. “The reclaimed asphalt gets put into an asphalt stream of Virgin asphalt and the recycled asphalt; they combine them together we make the shingle."
Additionally, Jamie presents Timber Steel, GAF's entry into metal roofing. Like their solar shingles, these are designed with the roofing contractor in mind, offering ease of installation. Jamie remarks, “This is GAF's first entry into metal roofing, very similar to how the GAF solar energy shingles were designed, this is designed with a roofing contractor in mind.”
Highlighting GAF's innovation, Jamie talks about the Pivot Pipe Boot, an all-metal solution designed to prevent common issues associated with rubberized material sleeves. This product represents GAF's focus on durability and efficiency in roofing solutions.
The conversation covers a range of products and innovations that demonstrate GAF's commitment to quality, sustainability and ease of installation.
