September 30 is the deadline for contestants to enter the MCA Aces of Las Vegas Metal Roofing National Championship Games event at METALCON, which will be held October 18-20 at the Las Vegas, Nevada Convention Center. The total cash awards purse for this year’s event has grown to $8,500.
Contestants can test their metal roofing skills by competing against four other teams of two contestants each. On October 18 and 19, five competitions will result in a winning team of the day with awards of $500 for each competition won, a total of $2,500 per day. In addition, the team with the most collective points of the day will win an additional $750. On Friday, October 20, the two collective points winners will compete in a run-off of four competitions and the 2017 Metal Roofing National Champion title and the grand prize of $2,000. A two-person team could win up to $5,250 to take home.
Challenges include the Retrofit Panel Installation Challenge, Screw Gun Challenge, Hug A Roof Challenge, Standing Seam Challenge and Let it Snow Challenge. Each team will be provided required power and hand tools, gloves and safety glasses and contestants will be required to wear rubber sole non-slip shoes.
