The International Roofing Expo (IRE) 2024, held in Las Vegas, Nevada, featured numerous industry leaders discussing the latest trends and technologies in roofing. One standout segment was our live soundstage interview, sponsored by SRS Distribution. Host Heidi Ellsworth welcomed Matt Armour, senior product and technical manager at IKO Industries, to discuss the state of the commercial roofing market and IKO’s latest innovations.
Heidi set the stage, noting the rapid developments and high energy at IRE. Matt echoed this optimism, stating, “All of us are seeing and hearing good projections of growth, pipelines that are filling up for our roofers. It makes us very happy because then we get to supply what they need.”
The discussion focused on the importance of labor-saving solutions in commercial roofing. Matt highlighted IKO’s advancements in induction welded systems, developed in collaboration with SFS Intec. These systems aim to improve the speed and quality of roof installations. “We’re showcasing here at IRE this year induction welded systems,” Matt said. He emphasized that these systems are designed to aid roofers in achieving fast production and high-quality results, with excellent wind uplift resistance.
Another labor-saving solution for IKO this year is the investment in proper training and providing ample support for contractors. Matt announced the launch of a new training program at IKO’s Hagerstown, Maryland, training center. “You can find information on our website at iko.com,” he said, inviting contractors to get involved. Matt expressed IKO’s willingness to bring training directly to contractors' shops or job sites to make it easier for them to adopt new technologies.
