In this episode of Roofing Road Trips®, host Megan Ellsworth sat down with Jennifer Hogan from Pridium Engineering to discuss the International Institute of Building Envelope Consultants (IIBEC) Convention, which is set to take place March 6-9, 2025, at the Rosen Shingle Creek in Orlando, Florida. With an impressive lineup of educational sessions, networking opportunities and a vast trade show, this event is poised to be a premier gathering for professionals in roofing, waterproofing and building science.
During the conversation, Jennifer, IIBEC's second vice president and chair of the 2025 convention committee, shared that there are many reasons she thinks people should attend the IIBEC Convention. "One reason is you get to experience four full days of comprehensive education," she explained. This year’s convention offers attendees the opportunity to fulfill all their continuing education hour (CEH) requirements in one weekend.
Another major draw is the expansive trade show. "It offers attendees a chance to meet representatives from over 130 manufacturers," Jennifer said. Exhibitors span multiple industries, including roofing, waterproofing and exterior wall products, making it an essential stop for those looking to stay ahead of industry trends.
Beyond education and product showcases, IIBEC places a strong emphasis on professional networking. "On top of that, too, you can network. There are so many great networking opportunities," Jennifer stated. Whether it’s through structured events or informal meetups, attendees will have ample chances to connect with industry leaders and peers.
A significant change to the event schedule this year is its shift from a typical weekday format to a Thursday-through-Sunday lineup. "We've actually shifted the schedule a little bit to try to better accommodate everyone's travel and really maximize the weekend for them," Jennifer explained. Optional pre-convention events include a seminar on waterproofing and the RCI IIBEC Foundation Golf Tournament — an event known for its fun atmosphere and occasional gator sightings.
With a packed agenda, the IIBEC Convention remains an unmissable event for industry professionals. "This is a highlight of the year for me," Jennifer said. “I get to connect with so many friends I've made over the years, and it's really rewarding and fills your cup to spend a few days with really like-minded people who all are passionate and geeky about the same thing as you are.” Whether attendees come for the education, the networking or the sheer breadth of products on display, IIBEC 2025 promises to deliver an experience that is both informative and engaging.
