Howard & Sons Roofing (located in Corona and El Cajon, CA) delivers excellence and superior trade craft to all their roofing projects. Dustyn Howard, owner, recently donated his firm’s time and passion to assist the Veteran Community in the greater San Diego area by restoring a roof for VFW Post 1512 located in Lemon Grove, CA, using donated GE Silicone from Proguard Building, master distributor of GE Silicone in the western United States.
The VFW’s roof had multiple leaks, and for years had limped along repairing with mastic and wet patches. After a careful inspection, Howard & Sons determined that the roof was in dire need of a roof refurbishment. Ignacio Cesar Peinado (Regional Manager, Howard & Sons) recruited additional help from the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association, which provided additional “sweat equity.”
The job started on a Friday, and the foreman directed his crew in tearing out plywood with dry-rot, repairing with Peel-Stick, and stabilizing the existing Cap Sheet system. Seams, joints, and gaps were coated with GE Liquid Flash* (Seam Sealer) and a single coat of medium-grey GE Enduris* silicone was applied without the need of a primer.
Dustyn and Ignacio earned the respect of these retired warriors by delivering a beautifully restored and waterproofed roof that will last another 20 years.
