Thanks to the generosity and work of the first lady of Clarksville, Tennessee and some charitable local builders, the Country Womans Club received a free roof.
The group’s clubhouse was in need of a new roof. Built in 1927, the log cabin style building needed to be repaired. With a desire to keep the building true to its historic design, the women of the club wanted to find a way to repair the roof in a traditional style.
Cynthia Pitts, first lady of Clarksville, heard of this need and set to work getting a team together that could help. Three local businesses helped make the renovation possible, at no cost to the club.
Jacob Crass, branch manager for ABC Supply was eager to help, but realized more than just the roof needed to be fixed and it was a job that needed more manpower. He told Clarksville Now, “I called Best Choice Roofing, and they wanted to step up and help, too. Manufacturer Owens Corning, ABC and Best Choice Roofing came together to step up and provide this roof and labor.”
In a great show of teamwork and goodwill, the three companies got together to begin repairs on the historic landmark. The repairs came at the perfect time as the Country Womans Club celebrated its 100th anniversary last September.
“We’re so grateful,” commented Gail Black, a member of the Country Womans Club. “They’re here doing this for free for us when we needed it.”
