In Season 3, Episode 40 of Roofing Road Trips, Heidi J. Ellsworth visits with Garrett Kurtt, CEO and founder of OneClick Code and Jessi West Gunteski, OneClick Code’s Director of Marketing and PR. They discuss the time and resource challenges that come with finding the right roofing codes, sales tax information, manufacturer specifications, permit fees and jurisdictional authority and explain how OneClick provides a solution to those problems and is helping roofing companies across the nation. 

Garrett has been in roofing for 13 years and had done thousands of estimates. “I realized I was doing things over and over again. I'm a systems guy. How can we automate? How can we put the process in place that we don't have to continue explaining what a roof should cost and using Xactimate?” says Garrett.  

“We're seeing all of these different groups of people who are being stuck by these manual and outdated systems, because they're either gathering inaccurate information or they're gathering information and they can't back it up," adds Jessi. “So, that was the main pain point that we are really trying to solve with OneClick Code. By compiling all of the building codes and jurisdiction data from across the U.S., we're really saving people massive amounts of time.” 

OneClick Code has grown in the three years since its inception to help contractors pull address-specific roofing codes quickly and efficiently in an easy-to-understand manner.  

“What it really boils down to is everyone finding the right information and then documenting that information. So, contractors needing to find out what the building codes are. In order to do that, they have to figure out the right jurisdiction. And in order to then get the claim closed, they have to document that information,” says Jessi. 

“That was a huge piece of the puzzle that no one had figured out that we had to do: address-specific jurisdiction and building codes," adds Garrett. "We're going all the way from the municipality down to address-specific building codes.”
