At the 2024 International Roofing Expo (IRE) Jason Joplin and Matt Hegge from GAF’s CARE (Center for the Advancement of Roofing Excellence) Program shared their insights on how the program is making a difference in the industry. Talking with Heidi J. Ellsworth from RoofersCoffeeShop, their discussion highlighted the vital role that educational resources and innovation in roofing technology play in the industry.
Jason began by expressing his amazement at the level of engagement observed at the booth. "This has been one of the best years I've ever seen — a lot of people here, a lot of people hungry to learn. We've been having a lot of presentations on numerous topics and I'm shocked how many people sit down for an hour, pay attention to a screen, take notes, raise their phone up, take pictures and raise their hands. There’s been a lot of really strong engagement at the show this year,” Jason said.
Matt echoed this sentiment, noting the exciting energy from the contractors. "The positive energy and the attitude of the contractors is that they have really enjoyed getting to see what vendors are bringing to the table this year. You can feel the positive energy as people are busting on the doors trying to get in first thing in the morning,” Matt pointed out.
Both Jason and Matt discussed the significance of the CARE program, which aims to educate and train roofing professionals across a spectrum of skills ranging from installation to sales. This program covers everything from basic installation techniques to complex sales strategies and warranty management, focusing on industry best practices beyond just GAF-specific products. Matt explained, "CARE is the Center for the Advancement of Roofing Excellence. We train on everything from installs to sales to warranties, and it's more on best practices for the industry rather than just for GAF products."
This discussion at the GAF booth not only highlighted the successful engagement and excitement generated by the event but also showcased Jason, Matt and their team's commitment to advancing educational opportunities in the roofing industry.
