GAF offer a Salute to Our Troops and Highlights Technology at IRE

MAR - ProdSvc - GAF - GAF Salutes the Troops and Highlights Technology at IRE (1)
March 11, 2018 at 3:56 p.m.

Special guest Mike Rowe, “the dirtiest man on TV,” helped GAF offer a “Salute to Our Troops” at the GAF booth during this year’s International Roofing Expo in New Orleans.

By Don Kilcoyne.

Rowe offered his thoughts on the labor shortage that is currently plaguing our industry as well.

Technology leadership was also in the spotlight as the company unveiled advancements in materials, software, and customer care designed to increase product performance, sales capabilities, and customer satisfaction. Showcase innovations include patent-pending StainGuard Plus™ time-release algae-resistance technology, breakthrough enhancements to the proprietary GAF e360 Visualizer and Estimator app, an industry-exclusive web-based virtual sales suite, and new demonstration testing for our proprietary DuraGrip™ Self-Seal Adhesive.

StainGuard Plus™ Time-Release Technology Revolutionizes Algae Resistance Nearly ten years of GAF research and development have produced a game-changing breakthrough in the battle against ugly cyanobacteria, a.k.a. blue-green algae. For decades, many stain-resistant shingles have relied on specialty granules containing a layer of copper, beneath a porous ceramic shell, to deliver stain-fighting copper ions to the roof surface. New patent-pending StainGuard Plus™ time-release technology features specially engineered polymer capsules containing thousands of copper microsites designed to deliver just the right amount of stain-fighting copper ions consistently and effectively to prevent the growth of blue-green algae. StainGuard Plus™ technology is currently available on Timberline Ultra HD® shingles bearing the StainGuard Plus™ logo, and comes with a 25-year ltd. warranty against algae discoloration.¹ Find out more about StainGuard Plus™ technology, and watch the informative video, here.

¹StainGuard Plus™ time-release technology and 25-year ltd. warranty against blue-green algae discoloration available only on Timberline Ultra HD shingles sold in packages bearing the StainGuard Plus™ logo. Does not apply to Timberline Ultra HD® Reflector Series™ Shingles. See GAF Shingle & Accessory Ltd. Warranty for complete coverage and restrictions.

New Features Add Speed and Convenience to GAF e360 Initially unveiled at the 2016 IRE in Las Vegas, the proprietary GAF e360 3D Visualizer and Estimator, powered by Hover, has received a significant feature upgrade. For more details on e360, see GAF e360 Update

One-Click Contractor Delivers Web-Based Turnkey Selling Capability GAF has worked with One-Click Contractor to offer a custom remote selling tool that allows a contractor to complete every step of the sales cycle, from initial presentation to contract signing, from anywhere with internet access. One-Click Contractor offers the homeowner the unprecedented convenience of shopping for a new roof on their schedule. And it saves the roofer valuable time and travel. In this age of dual-income households where both partners work full time, it gives GAF contractors a technological edge by enabling homeowner and contractor to connect anytime, anywhere.

Are Nails Over-Rated? Have you ever wondered what plays a bigger role in helping to prevent shingle blow-offs — the nails or the adhesive? GAF decided to find out by blasting 153 MPH hurricane-force winds at a roof held together with no nails in the field of the roof — just a few around the perimeter and GAF DuraGrip™ Adhesive. We’d never recommend installing a roof without nails. But after watching this video demonstration, which premiered at IRE, you might want to ask the next guy who talks about pretty nailing strips, “Where’s your DuraGrip™?”²

²This demonstration was performed under controlled conditions for a total of five and a half minutes, with upper wind speeds maintained for one and one-half minutes. It is not intended to create any warranties about product performance in high winds. The GAF Shingle and Accessory Limited Warranty covers your Timberline Shingles against manufacturing defects that adversely affect their performance. Damages resulting from acts of nature, fire, and winds (including gusts) over 110MPH for shingles installed using standard installation method or 130 mph for shingles installed using special installation method are not covered. See warranty for coverage and restrictions.
