Last fall, the CoffeeShops crew got the opportunity to attend the Roofing Contractors Association of Texas (RCAT)’s Texas Roofing Conference! The conference, which ran from October 4-6 in Houston, offered a myriad of opportunities for our crew and others in the industry. From cutting-edge educational sessions to networking events to the two-days of expo, there was something for everyone. Exploring that expo floor was an especially fun experience for the crew.
While on the floor, Heidi J. Ellsworth got a chance to meet Jeff Hung at Geocel Sealants/Kool Seal Coatings’ booth. Jeff is the national sales manager for both brands. Geocel serves the roof repair market, developing sealants that work on everything from general construction to residentials roofing to commercial buildings. On top of all of that, some of their sealants are also applicable to siding, windows and doors. As Jeff put it, “Anything that you need to make leak tight or repair, Geocel has an answer for you.”
Jeff was specifically showcasing some of their products with the capability of curing underwater through a demo. He explained that, in the coatings industry, “a lot of things can work underwater, but not cure underwater.” But, as his demo displayed, Geocel has a line of products that can do both so that you can work year-round, regardless of weather.
Geocel also has a line specifically designed to work with metal roofs, called Phantom. Jeff explained that one unique aspect of this line is the colors available and their simplicity. He elaborated, “These six shades will cover about 80% of the metal panel colors out, so you do not need an exact color match.” Traditionally, applicators have to have dozens of different sealant colors, sometimes upwards of 100, in order to match the metal color.
Jeff also discussed Kool Seal’s line of acrylic and silicone roof coatings. This includes a product called Freedom Flash, which is a moisture seal product used for patching and repairing. Jeff explained, “The unique thing about this is, it can be compatible with both acrylic and silicone coatings and also be a standalone repair.” Watch the full interview to learn more about Geocel and their suite of products.
