Experts break down coatings, efficiency and success strategies

Bitec Experts break down coatings, efficiency and success strategies
August 10, 2024 at 12:00 p.m.

By Jesse Sanchez.

Unveil the latest insights on commercial roofing strategies in a dynamic talk discussing crucial aspects of roof coatings, energy efficiency and project success tips for industry professionals.

In a recent CoatingsTalk The Right Solution for the Right Roof, Karen Edwards hosted a dynamic conversation with roofing experts Alan Tatum and Jon Feick from Bitec. They explored crucial aspects of commercial roofing, offering valuable insights and practical advice about the importance of roof inspections and how industry professionals can create sustainable long-term roofing solutions for building owners.

The discussion kicked off with a focus on the evolution of roof coatings. Jon spoke on their appeal for end-of-year tax planning, stating, "Coatings are often seen as maintenance expenses, making them a strategic choice for tax deductions." This financial angle considers their practical benefits for building owners.

Alan stressed the importance of knowing when to restore versus replace a roof, cautioning, "Not every roof can be saved with a coating." His insight demonstrated the need for a tailored approach to each roofing project, considering factors like condition and long-term viability.

Alan and Jon discussed the importance of considering budget constraints. "Budget is always a concern," Jon noted. He explained that while some building owners might desire a premium roofing system, their budget might only allow for a more economical solution. In such cases, presenting multiple options, such as a good, better, and best approach, helps align the project with the owner's financial capabilities.

According to Jon and Alan, the decision to restore or replace a roof is never straightforward. It requires a careful assessment of the roof's condition, the owner's goals, and budgetary considerations. By understanding these factors, contractors can provide the most suitable and effective solutions, ensuring the longevity and performance of the roofing system.
