Watch Charles’ response to the question “Do you use employees as brand ambassadors and if so, how do you prepare them?” or you can read the transcript below the video.
Charles: We use our employees as brand ambassadors. In fact, we look at our company like a family. We're all one unit. If one part of the family isn't getting the message, right, then it's not going to be consistent. And so, when we donate roofs, all of our people get involved, and they're told why, and the why, starts with our brand. A 30-year brand that says, "For 30 years, we've been keeping families safe and dry."
And that's what our men and women know. When they go out in the field, when we show up, we know why we're there. Sometimes our techs will go to a job, and they'll be a member of the community that'll have a hardship, and they'll tell our technician about it and our technician can take that information back, and we can find more people that we can serve. More families that we can keep safe and dry.
We just had this amazing experience where we were asked if we wanted to compete in the United Way Community Soccer Cup, and our guys represented us strong. We got them great uniforms, 30 years of keeping families safe and dry, and they went out, and they stood toe to toe, and they were the fastest team. And I think out of 16 teams, they were the fifth best and now, we are in a soccer league together where we're going out as one unit, having fun and thinking that we can change this world like we do one roof at a time. How's that?
Susan: Awesome and you know the other thing that we do Charles, where we leverage employees at all job levels is workforce development. This summer, we have our third year of having summer interns. We partner with three nonprofits in the community that work with high school youth and they are mentored and supervised by young people that are maybe early in their career. It's an opportunity for them to learn some skills. They also participate in the interviewing, the follow-up when they go back to the nonprofit and have a celebration, when the program is over. There are so many ways that you can involve all your employees at any job level in community outreach.
Charles: And we also use our employees along with our voices, to lift our community, and lift our industry. This year, last year and this next year, we're going back to a national roofing day, 450 roofers strong. We're raising our voices to advocate for our families, for our communities, those things that we need so that we can keep more families and more stuff safe and dry in this country.
