While at the 2024 International Institute of Building Enclosure Consultants’ (IIBEC) show, Heidi J. Ellsworth got the chance to sit down with Dave Nordentoft of Leister. Leister has been in the business of hot air welding technologies for 75 years now. Dave specifically wanted to highlight one of their newer roofing-related products to Heidi and the others attending the IIBEC show — the Varimat platform.
This is a new line of heat welders that comes in three levels, 300, 500 and 700. The one that Dave brought to the show was the 700, as it showcases the powerful quality control technology Leister has been developing in this line. Dave explained, “The Leister Quality System (LQS) is a way to help capture data and harvest that data to be able to use during a project, but also be able to archive their work, the quality of their work and be able to have as an archive for years to come.” By recording this welding data, quality control becomes far easier to manage and the overall quality of projects can be improved.
And the Varimat line isn’t the only exciting release from Leister this year! Dave shared a bit of information about what to expect later this summer, “We have a new battery-powered vacuum plate that'll be utilized for weld integrity testing for let's say patches or T-joints and that sort of thing. But super lightweight.” This tool is carefully designed to be easily transportable and convenient, making it a great addition to any contractor or inspectors’ toolbox.
