Attic ventilation might not be the first thing that comes to mind when thinking about energy efficiency, but for Attic Breeze, it’s the foundation of a growing success story. At the recent International Roofing Expo (IRE), Chad Paris, senior vice president of sales and marketing at Attic Breeze, sat down with Megan Ellsworth to discuss the company’s journey, recent innovations and role in sustainability.
"Attic Breeze has been around since 2006," Chad said. "A lot of people don’t know us, but we are the leader in solar attic ventilation." Founded by engineer Travis Hill in his garage in Gatesville, Texas, the company has grown into a 67,000-square-foot facility, manufacturing and assembling its cutting-edge products. Despite the expansion, Chad expressed that the company maintains the same commitment to quality as when it started.
The conversation at IRE also covered key industry trends, including a major push toward sustainability. "You see more solar shingles than you’ve ever seen here," Chad noted. "There’s a big push in the industry." The excitement at the event was palpable, with packed booths and a high-energy atmosphere — a stark contrast to the more subdued trade shows of recent years.
One of Attic Breeze’s main challenges is educating homeowners and contractors about the benefits of attic ventilation. "Most homeowners don’t understand attic ventilation," Paris explained. "If you’re not removing heat from your attic, your power bill is going significantly higher." With rising energy costs, their solar-powered ventilation systems offer a solution that reduces energy consumption without adding electrical components.
Even in areas with cloudy weather, Attic Breeze’s technology ensures efficiency. Chad mentioned how most people think solar won’t work without direct sunlight, but technology has advanced. Even with some cloud coverage, the fan still operates, significantly improving air circulation compared to passive vents.
As Attic Breeze continues to grow, Chad has been embracing opportunities to engage with the roofing community and further connect with industry professionals. "We’re really just trying to expand awareness about who we are and what we are about," he said. As solar and sustainable solutions become more prevalent, Attic Breeze is positioning itself as a key player in the industry.
