In their latest renovation project, the Seagate Condominiums set out to upgrade their classic 1973 charm with modern enhancements, particularly focusing on the roofing to ensure it meets the aesthetic needs of a beachside retreat. This introduction sets the stage for a comprehensive look at how the combined efforts of Sika Corporation, R.L. James Inc. and Brian Stirling transformed the existing structures with modern engineering and design without compromising the picturesque views that define this community.
Located on Longboat Key, Florida, the Seagate Condominium is comprised of upscale condo units that would appeal to any beach lover. Being part of a private club with well-maintained private units, and having been built in 1973, it was time for the condos to have a facelift. New paint and windows, in addition to a refurbished front entryway were all included as part of the condo’s transformation. The porte cochere and flat roofs of the buildings also needed to be retrofitted, but a certain aesthetic needed to be maintained to fit the overall ambiance of the Seagate Condo property
These condos, with their picturesque views of a beachfront ocean, also had to maintain a pleasing view of the rooftops from the upper condo units. The aesthetic had to be a seamless monolithic membrane, conform to the roof features, and offer 20+ years of protection.
The Sikalastic® 624 WP RoofPro membrane system and its’ ability to receive quartz sand or tile overlay for a beautiful, functional finish ultimately sealed the deal! Sika was able to provide all the components, including a tapered insulation package, screws, plates, quartz sand, and membrane. Aesthetics were “key” in this project, and the end result did not disappoint.
