In a recent episode of the Roofing Road Trips Podcast, Heidi J. Ellsworth sat down with Randy and Steve Kruse, owners of Kruse Brothers, Inc. The two brothers, brand ambassadors for LP Building Solutions, discussed their background in the roofing industry and their knowledge of siding. The two have been involved in the industry for several decades, coming from a family that has been involved with the construction trade in one way or another. However, their particular area of specialty is siding.
As a roofing contractor, there are numerous benefits to include siding as one of your services. Many contractors look at customers as a short-term relationship, as they may only need a roof every 10-20 years. When you see that there is a potential there to continue with that homeowner, it's hard to just leave that out on the table for someone else to come through and make such great profit off of.”
The potential to earn more business in areas other than roofing is great, and siding can bring in a substantial profit if added to a contractor’s available services.
Randy offered some advice on how to decide what options work for a contractor, “So, it comes down to, for the contractor, what type of siding installer do they want to be and what is their profit potential? Because the more expensive a product is, usually the more profit somebody can make with that product...”
