In a recent Roofing Road Trips podcast, Heidi J. Ellsworth visits with Duro-Last’s Jason Dark and Steve Ruth about the launch of Duro-Last X™ (DLX), the industry's first custom-cut roll good membrane solution. They discuss the value of custom when it comes to approaching the rooftop and offering services that make the contractor’s life easier.
Jason Dark has worn many hats throughout his 16 years at Duro-Last. Today he is vice president of sales and an active participant in the Roofing Alliance.
Steve Ruth, the senior vice president of sales at Duro-Last has worked with the company for 36 years.
“Duro-Last has proven for 43 years the value of custom. Custom fabricated roof systems and our custom approach to the rooftop and our services and what we do with contractors,” says Steve. “We're custom packaging ten foot and five-foot roll goods for roofing contractors to make roofing even easier.”
“Ten inch and thirty-inch rolls as well, 50, 60, 80 mils thick,” adds Jason. “We have it available in 100-foot stock rolls, but the real beauty of this product is, the real difference is, the custom lengths. If you need 90 feet, we'll make you 90 feet. If you need 190 feet, we'll make you 190 feet.”
The DLX system really addresses labor shortages. With this product there are “less people on the roof, less decision-making and faster and easier installations,” says Steve.
Jason agrees, stating, “You eliminate some of the labor you are using with just using 100-foot rolls and splicing the ends. Custom fabricated roof systems have been our key differentiator for over 40 years because it reduces the critical labor on the job site.”
“We're doing something different in a lookalike industry and providing something custom," says Steve. “We've done it for years with custom fabricated roof systems, which is the ultimate and custom solution, and this is in line with that, [which] gives a roofing contractor and us an advantage on performance and selling.”
