Morgan Patterson, daughter of James Patterson, the Vice President of Procurement at Centimark Corporation in Pennsylvania, was one of five new Melvin Kruger Endowed Scholarship Recipients for 2019-2020. Morgan received an OMG Scholarship, which is awarded through the Melvin Kruger Endowed Scholarship Program.
Some of Morgan’s interests include volleyball, digital marketing, videography, and technology trends. She is pursuing a degree in marketing at DePaul University.
Morgan worked at Centimark for three years and, while there, was “exposed to numerous departments and hope my education will build a platform to one day return to the company,” she explains. Morgan hopes to continue working at Centimark doing marketing and advertising after she graduates. “I believe my experience at DePaul University will positively impact this goal, and this scholarship has been a tremendous first step in the process,” Morgan explains.
“I would like to take this opportunity to express my sincere gratitude for your generosity. It is an honor to be selected as a recipient of an OMG Scholarship Melvin Kruger Endowed Scholarship award.”
Each year a maximum of 11 students are awarded up to $5,000 each for the Melvin Kruger Endowed Scholarship Program. Presented by the Roofing Alliance, this merit-based scholarship is awarded to employees and their families who intend to continue their education in college or a vocational program to pursue a career in the roofing or building construction industries. Employees of NRCA (National Roofing Contractors Association) contractor and supplier members are eligible to apply.
Possible majors for scholarship recipients include: architecture, business management, civil, mechanical or structural engineering, and construction management. Applicants must write a personal statement explaining their educational career goals and objectives, what they expect to be doing in 10 years, and how they will contribute to the roofing or construction industries. Recipients are chosen based on their academic record, potential to succeed, leadership and participation in school and community activities, honors, work and volunteer experience, career goals and aspirations, in addition to their essay and outside references.
