Community Unites to Award Local Hero a New Roof

TAMKO Taney County New Roof
January 16, 2023 at 6:00 a.m.

By TAMKO.

Jeff Fox, a long-time first responder in his community, was pleasantly surprised to discover he had won a roof for his home.

It’s not always easy to know how to say “thank you” to our heroes. Sometimes, it takes a whole community to give back. The community of Taney County, Missouri came together to do this for John Fox who has been a first responder in the town for 38 years. He was overcome with gratitude when he heard he won a much-needed new roof, donated by local businesses.

“We were needing it bad,” said Fox of his family’s need for a new roof. “We were going to have to get a new roof this summer anyway. If we hadn’t won it, we were going to have to start getting estimates, seeing what it would cost, and it was just a blessing when we got the call.”

Fox was nominated for the donated roof project and chosen by the Taney County 100 Club, an organization that exists to support Taney County first responders and their families.

TAMKO and Arrowhead Building Supply donated the roofing materials for Fox’s roof and Branson Roofing Company in Branson, Missouri donated the installation to provide a new roof, free of charge, to the deserving family. Then, to complete the new roof, JCH Gutters donated and installed gutters for the home.

“The love here shows a little bit of hope,” said Fox. “[It] shows there are people out there that care, that care about what we do and back us up.  And it’s just quite the blessing that this has happened for us, and that we won this.”

Kyle Carder, TAMKO customer relations manager, worked closely with Branson Roofing on the project and was invited to the job site to share in the celebration once the new roof was installed.

“They [first responders] deal with negative situations all day, so, being able to help them out and recognize them for all the good things they do as far as keeping the greater community safe is something that we love to do,” said Carder, a third-generation TAMKO employee.

The Branson, Missouri local CBS affiliate covered this heartwarming story that featured a great shout-out for the donation. Watch the full TV report here.
