A deserving Air Force veteran in Corpus Christi, Texas was the recipient of a surprise re-roof. Judy Hall was unable to have her hurricane damaged roof repaired due to financial issues. Thankfully, a generous team of businesses donated a complete roof replacement for her.
This project was a joint effort between the Corpus Christi Roofing Company and TAMKO Building Products. They asked the community for suggestions of veterans who could use a helping hand and then identified what they can do to provide assistance. That’s when they found Judy.
“We need to give something back to the community, and this is a beautiful way to do it,” said Roy Rojas, the owner of Corpus Christi Roofing, in his interview with Kris 6 News.
Everything was donated for this veteran’s re-roof. TAMKO donated all of the materials used, the labor was donated, as well as the permits and the windstorm inspection. “It is a team effort, this is the network that I have used for my business, and they donated their time and effort,” Roy explained.
Judy’s new roof, with a high-quality TAMKO heritage rustic cedar shingle, would have cost her approximately $12,000. “There [are] really no words to really describe it, you know, besides getting choked up. It is something you want so bad and seems so far away, and when it happens you are just wordless,” Judy shared.
According to Roy, this isn’t the first time they have donated a roof to a local in need. He revealed, “We try to do at least four per month...Of course, they are all not donations, but for donating purposes like this, at least two to three a year if we can.” He hopes his team can continue serving homeowners in the area, ensuring their homes remain safe places for them to live.
Judy expressed her gratitude for the generosity of Roy and his team, as well as the TAMKO materials donation, stating, “...I thank them all from the bottom of my heart.” It’s amazing what can happen when a community comes together. Judy is just one recipient of a new roof that will keep her protected. And the kindness of these companies will grant Judy peace of mind now that she doesn’t have to worry about the financial burden of re-roofing her home.
