With unprecedented restrictions on commercial facilities being open during the COVID-19 pandemic, air quality control was an absolute necessity to comply with regulations. That’s why the City of Oviedo in Florida partnered with WTI Pure Air Control Services to help them meet the marks.
The city partnered with “Healthy Building” program solutions with three locations across the city: City hall, The Riverside Park Complex, and the gymnasium/aquatic center. WTI Pure Air Control Services performed the following services on these structures:
The results of the HVAC AHU/coil cleaning service were quite a success. According to a case study, in cleanliness tests that were conducted before and after cleaning in each AHU at city hall and the gymnasium, the results showed that “the level of airflow obstruction across the coils caused by a combination of particulate matter, biofilm and other pollutants made every unit perform better by an average of 38%.”
In addition to those benefits, there were also energy savings for the buildings. After the fan systems were changed, they measured the electricity use again. Changing the fan systems saved electricity and money because the new fans needed less maintenance and did not require belt replacements.
HVAC restoration is a vital step in minimizing building contaminants such as particles, microbes and fiberglass, ultimately providing a safer environment for occupants and visitors.
