This year at IRE, CertainTeed displayed three Showcase Systems that address a building owner’s demand for protection, and a contractor’s need to offer an asphalt-based solution at a competitive installed price.

CertainTeed offers a complete line of low-slope asphalt-based roof products and accessories, including BUR, SBS and APP options. To add efficiencies to the contractor’s workflow, CertainTeed offers a selection of recommended commercial roofing systems - known as Showcase Systems - that are designed to meet popular application, code approval and warranty needs.

• Flintlastic SA MidPly and Flintlastic SA Cap (self-adhered base and cap) offers the fastest installation time (observed to be faster than TPO installation), lowest laborer skill requirement, and is the cleanest, safest and healthiest application option.
• Flintlastic Ultra Glass SA (self-adhered base) and Flintlastic GTA-FR (torch-applied cap) is comparable in application speed to the fully adhered systems, and can actually be installed with less time if a multi-torch wagon is utilized.
• Flintlastic Ultra Poly SMS and Flintlastic Premium FR-P (base and cap applied with cold adhesive or hot asphalt) offer tried-and true, premium multi-layer protection, with a combined thickness of 311 mils and two layers of flexible, resilient SBS-modified asphalt on a polyester-reinforced mat. New! Cold-weather installation for Flintlastic SA SA roofing systems required a minimum temperature of 50°F and warming. However, through the use of a new cap sheet application technique which uses a hot air welder, CertainTeed has achieved excellent Flintlastic SA bonds in temperatures as low as 20°F in numerous laboratory and field tests.

CertainTeed has approved this cold weather application technique for Flintlastic SA, and supports it within its Commercial Roofing Limited Warranties.
