Catching up with VaproShield at IIBEC 2024!

VaporShield IIBEC 2024
May 31, 2024 at 9:00 a.m.

By Anna Lockhart.

Our team stopped by the VaproShield booth to find out the latest updates on what to expect from the brand in 2024.

At the IIBEC 2024 International Convention and Trade Show, RoofersCoffeeShop’s Heidi J. Ellsworth stopped by the VaproShield booth to talk with Chris Meyer, director of low-slope roofing leading the brand’s efforts into the commercial roofing industry, who had a lot to share about the company and what they have in store for the rest of the year.

VaproShield designs and manufactures high-performance, vapor permeable water resistive barriers and air barrier membranes to keep weather out and energy savings in for the life of the building. Chris shared, “We have some exciting things going on. We are in our infancy entering the commercial roofing market, and we are preparing to launch two different products, a vapor barrier product and a dual functioning air barrier and permeable vapor retarder product. They’re really going to be game changers, especially the dual functioning product which has the potential to change the way the industry approaches re-roofing.”

Chris elaborated on the permeable vapor retarder and what makes it unique, sharing that it doesn’t even fit into any of the other pre-existing vapor retarder classes, which are based on permeability, as it’s ranked above a Class III rating. He explained, “It’s 30 perms and is really going to help solve the major pain points around condensation and air movement for a lot of contractors, designers and building owners. It controls air movement and cuts down on excessive condensation while also still allowing the roof to go through its seasonal cycles.”

Having served the industry for over twenty years, VaproShield has continued to tackle the issue of moisture control with their innovative products. Chris shared that while the industry continues to evolve and change with new codes and regulations. The brand is eager to continue working towards improving and expanding their capabilities to help customers and the industry tackle building envelope issues they’re facing up on the roof and on the job site while also keeping up with the changing times.
