Bridging the labor gap

Labor Central Bridging the Labor Gap
March 30, 2024 at 6:00 p.m.

By Jonny Suchor.

Tune in to the insightful discussion about Labor Central's impact on the roofing industry's labor dilemma.

In a recent RLW® webinar, presented by RoofersCoffeeShop®, industry experts gathered to discuss a critical issue facing the construction sector: the labor shortage and how technology can provide innovative solutions.

Hosted by Heidi J. Ellsworth, the webinar, "Looking for Labor in the Right Places," introduced a panel brought together by Labor Central. Heidi is joined by industry professionals John Van Beek from Labor Central, Stuart Tapley from SRS Distribution and Tyler Grams from Mark Kaufman Roofing.

With his extensive industry background, John Van Beek emphasized Labor Central's potential to address the missing piece in the roofing industry—the installation by crews after the sales process. With technology already streamlining everything, Labor Central's role in connecting contractors with skilled labor is more crucial than ever.

John shared, “The one thing missing in our industry is really the last thing, right? When I heard about Labor Central, I said, ‘Man, this is amazing. What a great solution.’”

Stuart highlighted the impact of labor shortages at both contractor and distribution levels. He highlighted how Labor Central, integrated with SRS's digital platform Roof Hub, helps contractors find qualified labor and expand their geographical service areas. “We've had a lot of people actually being able to have a one-stop shop and going right on there and taking advantage of those opportunities and finding qualified labor," Stuart stated.

Labor Central is valuable for contractors seeking to stay competitive. The industry can proactively address the labor shortage and continue to thrive in an evolving market. Tyler discussed the ongoing challenge of finding talented crews who want to work on specialized tasks and repairs, areas where Labor Central can help. He shared, “If the crew's happy, and then in return, the business is happy.”
