Beauty and strength: The best of both worlds

SW Beauty and strength: The best of both worlds
August 7, 2024 at 3:00 p.m.

By Emma Peterson.

You can change your paint, you can change your coating, but you will always find your way back to Sherwin-Williams, especially with their Emulate line.

Meet Emulate™ Metal — Sherwin-Williams Coil Coating’s collection of metal coatings for product and design professionals. This innovative line brings together the beauty and simplicity of nature with the power and strength of metal to create the best of both worlds. This collection has taken years of research from the Sherwin-Williams DesignHouse color experts. It was during the process of studying design trends and observing the evolution of wood, metal and stone, that Emulate’s concept was realized. To learn more about this incredible line of coatings, Heidi J. Ellsworth hosted Brynn Wildenauer and Kiki Redhead of Sherwin-Williams for an episode of Roofing Road Trips®.

Kiki, who has over 20 years of work experience in color material finish and trends, told Heidi that this is one of her favorite collections. She explained, “It's really an inspirational series. There are three different collections of these different prints and patterns, and they're essentially made to mimic natural materials.” Picking out the finalized prints and patterns was no easy task. Brynn shared a bit of the behind-the-scenes, saying, “We had hundreds and hundreds of samples at the DesignHouse. We had to narrow down a lot and we went back and forth a ton to dial in where we wanted designs to be.” It was a long process, but it was a labor of love, as Brynn added, “It's all just very inspirational and it's intended to be something for anybody to look at.”

This focus on natural prints and taking inspiration from nature is something that Kiki sees as a reflection of the larger population and culture. She explained, “I think people are focusing so much more on sustainability. The definition for each person might be different, but I think people are just becoming more in touch with nature around them and wanting to be enveloped in that and being a part of that.” These stunning metal coatings truly bring the natural back to the forefront of viewer’s minds, without sacrificing any of the structural durability of the materials. Bring the beauty of humans, nature and time together on your next project with the Emulate Metal collection.
