It’s here and it isn’t going anywhere! Artificial intelligence (AI) is transforming the construction industry and I for one am embracing it! So far, it has been making tasks like estimating, scheduling and client communication more efficient. But as AI becomes more prevalent, we must also make sure that we are keeping the human connections that define our industry, not replace them unintentionally with efficiency.
At Levello Construction, we believe innovation should support transparency, integrity and the relationships we build with homeowners and partners. AI is a tool, not a replacement for expertise, empathy and ethics. Here are a few ways we integrate AI responsibly while keeping trust at the forefront.
This is huge for us. We’ve all heard that computers or “robots” are going to take over our jobs and depersonalization will occur. While automated tools can answer questions and send reminders, they can’t understand the nuances of a homeowner’s concerns after a hailstorm or fire. In our office, we use AI-powered scheduling to streamline project timelines, but every client still speaks directly with our team when discussing scope, materials and expectations. When homeowners know a real person is behind every decision, trust grows.
Many homeowners feel left in the dark during restoration projects, unsure of timelines, budgets or next steps. AI-driven project management tools help us solve this problem. Adapting to this model, we use technology to provide real-time updates on job progress, estimated completion dates and weather delays — ensuring our clients always know what’s happening. This proactive approach builds confidence and eliminates surprises.
With my background in insurance and claims, I see the advantages of AI-generated estimates. These tools speed up the process, but they should never be the final decision-maker. Our team will cross-check AI estimates with our hands-on assessments to ensure accuracy. This extra step ensures that homeowners receive fair settlements and aren’t shortchanged by algorithmic errors or insurance limitations.
AI often relies on customer data, but privacy must come first. Levello only collects and stores essential information, and we never share data without client consent. If a homeowner prefers personal updates over automated messages, we adjust to their preference — because ethical AI means respecting individual needs.
Instead of replacing skilled trades, AI should support them. Our production team uses AI-powered weather tracking to anticipate project delays and AI-assisted material tracking to optimize deliveries. But ultimately, we make the final call on job site logistics. Construction is a hands-on industry, and no AI can replace the craftsmanship and real-world decision-making of experienced professionals.
I really want to stress that at Levello Construction, we believe in balancing innovation with integrity. AI helps us work smarter, but trust, transparent communication and human relationships will always be our foundation.
