For 20 years, Keith Sahm served in the U.S. Army. After an IED explosion in Afghanistan, Keith was medically retired due to injuries he endured. For most of his service, Keith was a single father. Now that he is retired, he’s fixing up his home but has financial and physical limitations.
Enter Kulp Roofing & Construction.
Their Kulp Gives Back program, which provides a family in need with a free roof replacement and gutter installation, is back for a second year due to its success and impact from the prior year. Ryan Hogan, Kulp Roofing & Construction sales and marketing manager shared, “Our ‘Kulp Gives Back’ promotion was a huge success last year and the smiles it brought to our employees faces and Anne Mae’s (last year’s winner) face proved how great it is to give back to those who sometimes need a hand.”
Accepting nominations for the second year, Cindy, a friend of Keith’s, submitted a nomination on his behalf. “He has selflessly sacrificed his life for his daughters, our country and all of us and he would do it again in a split second...He is the kindest person you could meet and never asks for anything,” she wrote.
After being relocated so many times during his time in the service, Keith was finally able to put down roots and purchased a home. But the house was more of a fixer upper than he realized.
“As with everything in the house, the roof is a bit older and in need of replacing. I believe it is leaking in spots and not even sure if the cross bracing/rafters are done right. The gutters are coming loose and one was replaced this year after falling off the house,” Cindy explained in her nomination. “It would be a blessing if we could give something back to him after all he has sacrificed. I think for once he would be able to sleep a little better knowing this was off his plate,” Cindy shared.
Cindy’s wish for Keith came true. Keith’s story resonated with Kulp Roofing & Construction and they surprised the veteran at his home to tell him the good news: he was getting a new roof! Now Keith and his daughters can sleep more soundly knowing they have a new roof over their heads thanks to this roofing company’s generosity.
