Bitec Superior Roof Protection

By Dani Sheehan.

See why Bitec’s Impersol™ SI joint compound performs better than other silicone sealants in waterproofing and durability.

Impersol SI joint compound from Bitec, Inc.™ is a low volatile organic compound (VOC), high solid, one-part silicone elastomeric flashing grade designed for sealing various components, including penetrations, curbs, seams and flashing areas to prevent water infiltration. It provides superior waterproofing protection compared to other silicone sealants and is ideal for use on roof systems previously coated with silicone elastomeric coatings.

The applied silicone flashing grade creates a durable, seamless and flexible system resistant to lateral movement, shear and accommodating normal expansion and contraction. It is specifically designed for protective sealing of pipe boots, seams, flashing areas, curbs and exposed fasteners, demonstrating excellent adhesion properties to ensure long-term durability.

Application instructions

The versatile compound can be applied using soft brushes or trowels, even on wet substrates and underwater, making it an excellent emergency repair product. The recommended application conditions include an ambient temperature range of 50-90° Fahrenheit, with higher temperatures accelerating cure and working times. Humidity levels above 20 percent are essential for curing – lower humidity will extend the process.

Safety

This product is not a hazardous chemical as defined by OSHA; however, it is considered combustible and is a fire hazard. Adequate ventilation is recommended in the work area to help avoid breathing any dust that may evolve during installation. Personal hygiene measures are always recommended such as washing hands or wearing gloves when working with this material.
