Accountability: The foundation for success in 2025

RCSI Ashley and Seth Pietsch - December - Accountability: The foundation for success in 2025
December 11, 2024 at 1:30 p.m.

RCS Influencers Ashley and Seth Pietsch say that accountability isn’t just a word; it’s a daily practice that drives stronger businesses and stronger relationships.

As we step into 2025, our insurance agency is focusing on one powerful word to guide us: accountability. For a business specializing in roofing insurance, this concept is more than a buzzword — it’s the key to achieving our goals, serving our clients better and ensuring long-term growth.

Accountability isn’t just about holding others to a standard; it’s about creating a culture where everyone—from leadership to front-line employees — takes ownership of their actions and results. Here’s how we’re embedding accountability into our daily operations to align with our 2025 goals..

1 - Define goals clearly and transparently

Accountability starts with clarity. As we set ambitious goals for 2025, we ensure every team member knows the following.

  • What we’re aiming for: Revenue growth, client retention and exceptional service.
  • Why it matters: Supporting our clients with the best coverage protects not just their businesses but the communities they serve.

By defining these objectives and tying them to individual roles, we ensure that everyone understands their responsibilities and how their contributions drive our collective success.

2 - Build accountability into daily operations

To make accountability a daily habit, we’ve structured our operations around it.

  • Daily “tailgate talks”: Short meetings ensure every team member starts the day with a clear understanding of their priorities and responsibilities.
  • Weekly “tactical meetings”: These meetings are an opportunity to review progress, celebrate wins and address any obstacles, all in a transparent and supportive environment.
  • Quarterly reviews: These deep-dive sessions help us evaluate what’s working, identify gaps and adjust strategies to stay on track.

By maintaining a rhythm of communication, we make accountability a constant, not just a conversation at the year’s end.

3 - Create a culture of ownership

In our agency, accountability isn’t about blame — it’s about empowerment. We encourage our team to:

  • Own their tasks and decisions
  • Speak up when they see opportunities for improvement
  • Ask for help when needed

This approach fosters trust and ensures that accountability becomes a shared value rather than a top-down directive.

4 - Measure and reward accountability

To keep accountability front and center, we’ve implemented tools and systems to track progress. From performance metrics to client satisfaction scores, we ensure that everyone has visibility into how we’re doing as a team.

Equally important, we celebrate accountability through:

  • Core value awards: Recognizing employees who exemplify our values, including hard work and integrity.
  • Incentives: Rewarding team members for achieving milestones and driving results.

These recognitions not only motivate but also reinforce the importance of accountability in everything we do.

5 - Lead by example

As leaders in the roofing insurance space, we know that accountability starts at the top. We’ve made it a priority to:

  • Set realistic expectations.
  • Communicate transparently about challenges and successes.
  • Follow through on commitments.

By modeling accountability, we create a standard that inspires the entire team to do the same.

Accountability in action for roofers

Just as roofing contractors rely on precision and responsibility in their work, our agency mirrors those values in the way we support them. Whether it’s delivering timely quotes, proactively addressing risk management or providing exceptional service, accountability is the foundation of our promise to our clients.

As we embark on 2025, accountability is at the forefront of everything we do. We ensure our goals are clear, our team is empowered to take ownership of their roles and we hold ourselves accountable to the highest standards we set. This commitment not only strengthens our agency but also deepens the trust and partnerships we share with our roofing contractor clients.

For us, accountability isn’t just a word; it’s a daily practice that drives stronger businesses and stronger relationships. Together, with our team and our clients, we’re ready to tackle 2025 with purpose and resilience.
