In a recent episode of Roofing Road Trips®, host Heidi J. Ellsworth sat down with Dennis Vowles, a roofing industry expert and inventor of Garrdal. This innovative company specializes in a two-part pipe flashing designed to navigate obstacles on shingle roofs effortlessly. Made from UV-resistant materials Garrdal ensures long-lasting protection.
Dennis reflected on the early days of conceptualizing Garrdal, stating, "I was always web searching for alternatives to flash around obstacles that pipes put in the way... couldn't find it, couldn't find it, couldn't find it, and finally thought, well, what don't I come up with something?”
The Garrdal flashing system can be applied in a variety of scenarios—electrical masts, high-efficiency furnace vents, tankless water tank vents and more. It's also incredibly user-friendly as Dennis pointed out, "Garrdal installs with just eight nails, four on the lower sealant, four on the upper holds it in place... You can repair a fouled pipe flashing with guard all without having to replace any of the shingles. So, when you do the repair, the roof still matches.”
Contractors interested in using Garrdal can find the products through the company's website or via local dealers. As a brand, Garrdal is all about innovation and longevity. "The uses are going to be here for a long time, and that's good for me," said Dennis.
As roofing technologies evolve, Garrdal's innovative solutions serve as an example of what's possible when you take a problem, find a practical solution and bring it to market.
