Part of being a quality roofing contractor is staying up to date on information found in technical publications. The National Roofing Contractors Association (NRCA) offers a wealth of technical resources in its online library, all of which are discounted for association members! Here are their top five best-selling technical resources:
This four-volume manual is one of the most well-known technical resources in the roofing industry. In this comprehensive publication, you’ll get information on steep-slope roofing, metal flashing, air leakage control and more! It also can be used as reference material for roofing contractor licensure exams.
Technical resources like this are great to keep you up to date with best practices. In this manual, you’ll find information about materials, weather, proper waterproofing design and warranties. It’s also a great companion piece to the NRCA Roofing Manual.
This updated manual addresses metal flashings and condensation and air leakage control and gives you a thorough look at potential issues to consider. It contains 61 construction details as well as appendixes that include climatic design and NRCA’s technical directory. This document is included in NRCA’s Roofing Manual, but you still can purchase a stand-alone copy if you prefer.
This in-depth manual contains important information about working with steep-slope roof systems. It covers five types of steep-slope roof types: asphalt, clay tile, metal, slate and wood shake. Every section has roof assembly information including how each type is designed and installed. It also is included in the NRCA Roofing Manual, but you may purchase it on its own.
If you only want the construction details of the NRCA roofing manual, you can get all 650+ with these CAD files. After downloading the electronic copy, you can create customized plans with AutoCAD® software.
Check out the NRCA bookstore for more technical resources, including manuals available in Spanish.
