Mike simply knew the intricate 12,000 square foot roof, with its elevations changes and unique elements would be a winner. And he was correct. Recipient of the DaVinci Roofscapes Masterpiece Contractor 2022 Project of the Year Award, the massive roof includes radiuses, nine separate barrel roofs and a one-of-a kind mushroom roof. Covered with DaVinci Multi-Width Slate tiles in a European blend, the outstanding project is highlighted by copper flashings and built-in copper gutters.
When it came time to add the snow retention system, a copper snow fence was requested to add extra protection from high volumes of snow above all the garage doors. The homeowner also asked for the copper to match all the other copper flashings on the home.
With the showpiece home located in Nashotah, Wisconsin, the home had to be prepared to handle plenty of snow. Brennan, whose company works primarily in the Midwest from Illinois to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, did what he’s been doing since 2012… he contacted Rocky Mountain Snow Guards.
“We stick with what works best for our business,” says Brennan, owner of Brennan Exteriors out of Mukwonago, Wisconsin. “Rocky Mountain Snow Guards has been a reliable partner for many years. So, as we have done with other projects, we used their free layout and quote services to determine an ideal snow retention plan for this roofing system.
“The Rocky Mountain team takes into consideration the DaVinci material we were dealing with, the steep pitches on the roof, the slopes and all other factors. They provided us with a recommendation for powder coated steel RG-16 snow guards placed in a soldier row pattern. Rocky Mountain Snow Guards are known for their high-quality materials. Plus they offer great performance for snow retention, so we were confident in moving forward with the product and installation recommendations.”
Once the 1,511 RG-16 snow guards were installed on the DaVinci roof by his talented team, Brennan looked back with satisfaction. “This project has been by far the most unique one we have done to date,” says Brennan. “The homeowner was very pleased with the roofing system during the first winter. When the snow started melting on the composite slates, the snow guards helped slow down the snow shed from the roof and protect the copper gutters.
“The snow retention system did exactly what it was supposed to do. We’re grateful for the quality of product and support offered to us from Rocky Mountain Snow Guards that allows us to complete custom projects like this one for our clients.”
