Hardin Roofing and Exteriors from Maryland writes, "Old style standing seam roof installation with seamed hips, standing seam valleys & eave tails. These details really make the roof look old fashioned and authentic. Yes, this can be done with pre finished steel using the right tools. No, it’s not any slower than the modern method. It would be great to see more metal roof craftsman here in the eastern US using these old details especially on historic properties receiving new standing seam metal roofing . In my opinion the modern style installations rob historic homes of their soul. It would also be great to see an educational program here that would promote and teach old fashion trades that are often overlooked and forgotten for the sake of preserving historic properties and architecture alike. At the least bring shop class back to schools for god sakes!
