An old acquaintance of mine, long time manager of a local roofing supply, really nice guy - probably haven't seen him in 15 years - just won the 180 million lottery Friday night (don't know if it was a California or multi-state). The Southern California roofing industry is a-buzz. If he's smart he will go into hiding. Heard he quit the next day.
I just can't imagine.
We had a story actually true about a floor tile setter and his wife were off on a mini vacation a the beach well as it goes they went up to the room to et some rest or whatever , any he decided to go down to the bar alone for a nightcap. The lotto rolls out a 11.00pm as he was sitting at the bar the numbers were rolled out, seems hat he had all 6 numbers. he left the bar and was never seen again by his wife, he finally hooked up with a a local woman and he went on a spree, evidently he was caught and went to court and had to split the loot with his ex wife it was a mere 150mil split 2 ways, the reason that I know so much is because she explained it all to my men who were doing a remodeling job for her se called the office and asked if we could wait a couple of weeks for our final payment because her check id scheduled for the 1st of the month and she was running short lol I figured out that the old man took out the 150 mil in 30yr payments after taxes and the split i would be 187000 and change oh well the most I ever hit on a quick pick was 6000 I was thrilled I put it into my kids savings lol
No thank you, I'll make my 180 million.................
I don't play the lottery, played maybe 5 times in my life when the jackpot gets into the hundreds of millions. I'll spend a couple bucks. Chances of winning are not preferred, I'd rather play poker... but someone's gotta win.
I don't think it'd change me too much. I wouldn't quit my job, but would tell my boss my hours are getting cut. One thing I know for sure is the first call would be to a financial adviser with the goals of setting up a few trusts, paying my bills, and investing a little in the most appropriate and most secure way possible. Oh and I'd buy a new truck or two. I don't think I would go broke because I couldn't think of how to spend more than a couple or three million, after that I'd be outta ideas.
Wait and see where he is next year you know the old story " Easy come easy go " Hey Egg nice to see you
Nor can I. But then I don't play so that makes it harder. I did a roof for a couple who won one. It made them very wierd. I would imagine they ended up moving away; how could you not. Didn't want to "change" so they put up an addition that literally filled their lot and left the garage the same, even with the lids nailed in a row under the workshop cabinets and the glass jars with the different funky nails screwed up into the lids. Suddenly coming into that much money would be a little like getting nuked I'm afraid. Would take a very stout constitution to keep from scattering. A whole lot of faith and a whole lot of humility would come in handy too.
